The Whaaat!? Lab is a hybrid studio-laboratory dedicated to uncovering and fostering that feeling, specifically through experimental games and playful interactivity. It is located within the ATLAS Institute, at CU Boulder.
Since 2018, we’ve curated the Whaaat!? Festival for experimental games and playful interactions. It changes a little bit each year.

The Whaaat!? Lab has contributed to many games & projects, some of them highly acclaimed.
The lab maintains a modest board game library for students in the CTD program, primarily for inspiration and leisure.
The lab currently directed by Danny Rankin. It has a community of related humans.
